Description of Service Domain

Description

This service allows you to monitor a DNS record. A domain name service request is sent to a DNS server and the response is compared with the expected IP address.

DNS Server to query	DNS server to query

Expected IP Address	expected IP address

DNS server has to be authoritative for the lookup	Time in seconds before a connection attempt times out. If a timeout occurs, the status of the services is changed to Critical.

Timeout [sec]

Identifier	Identifier that should be characteristic for the service. This identifier makes assigning services easier if you are using several services of the same type on one server. It is specified in the report and the notification.

Availability Report

OK	Server responding, successful reply from DNS server, response matches the expected IP address

Critical	Server not responding, no reply from DNS server within the timeout, response does not match the expected IP address
